Not sure how this works but I have a DBA and tax ID for my photo company and I wanted to start another photo related company with a different name but under the same company...does that make sense?? So would I need another tax ID and DBA or how does that work?? Anyone?? Honestly, I think this second company will be the "bigger" of the 2 LOL

Is "Sweet Shots" a corporation (or LLC), or a sole proprietorship (i.e. Autom "DangerouslyMoody", DBA: Sweet Shots)?

I believe you can then just amend your DBA filing to just include your new DBA, since you're a sole proprietorship. The local county office handles that, as I recall.

I believe you can have a bunch of DBA's strung together.
It makes it harder, but not impossible, to trace the true ownership of a company.

The DBA will open another DBA in the new company name. Be sure and take the orignal DBA paperwork when you go to file. Not the way I would do it, but one way. I would start an LLC with you as the sole member, and have the LLC get both DBA's/

Just need to file another DBA, either as yourself or as your present DBA being the owner. It's easier tax wise to do it as yourself.

Then contact the Comptroller to get the second DBA added to your sales tax permit (it'll be added as a new "outlet").
