Question Need advice on selling prints and pics on Cd - 03-16-2009, 10:24 AM

Hi All!

I have a question to ask of other photographers because I have never been in this position before. I was hired by a webmaster (who is my friend) to shoot head shots of a church staff that he is doing a website for. The deal was I was going to shoot and then give him the cd for their profiles on the site.
I did the shoot this past Saturday and it went well. But during the shoot a few of the people wanted to get copies of their pictures afterwards. I then responded by saying that we could schedule a photoshoot. But one woman said she wanted the pics I took today. I think I might have said "ok" and gave her my card. I actually didn't have a plan as to what to do about that.

I did talk to the webmaster and he said if anyone asks about wanting the pictures he's going to tell them to contact me.

I'm thinking of selling the prints for a price and also a cd of the pics for a price. (But I have yet to come up with those because I have taken a year off from my business.)

For my photoshoots that is what I would do but I wasn't prepared for this since I have never done this before.

Is this the right way of going about it?

Any advice would be appreciated!

Allison

Personally I would just say that they can purchase the print for $XX or purchase 1 digital file for $XXX. Just be sure you're pricing yourself accordingly!

Thank you Christie!

Yeah I need to come up with a new price list. I haven't updated it since 2006!
