I have my own domain and about all I use the website for is image storage. Recently, I've been scanning a lot of my old slides and negatives to DVD, and I've also become more active in photography in general since getting a DSLR. I would like to display some of my photography on my website in some sort of interesting manner -- hence the idea of using a template to get started -- with the idea in mind that I might be able to generate a sale every now and again.
I've done a fair amount of HTML coding, but that's about the extent of it, so I don't want to get into anything too complicated or, for that matter, time consuming regarding layout. Not looking for this to be a major source of income, but I still want my site to look nice.
I suppose I could go the for-pay route like smugmug or pbase, but since I already have my own site that I'm already paying for, I'm thinking I should at least give it a try and exploit what I already own.
So, any template suggestions? Or other image-based website suggestions in general?
Best,
Michael | | | | | Sponsored Links | Premium Members do not see Google advertisements. SIGN UP today and help support our community.

I wish I could help. I just wanted to comment because I saw an Elan IIe listed in your sig. I've still got my Elan II. Need to use it more often, especially now that I've got much better glass than I did back in the day.

if you have photoshop, you can do flash photo galleries for your images
but, depending on your budget, there are several places that sell templates to meet your needs
Are you looking for Flash or HTML???

If you are looking for flash Portfolio Sitez will sell you a customizable template with a shopping cart. They have several styles to choose from, the customer service is great, and they are inexpensive compared to other companies selling templates.

See that's the thing. I don't know from Flash. It's a plug-in, is about all I know.
I have an old copy of Photoshop (v7). It's always done pretty much what I need, but more recently I sprang for Paint Shop Pro Photo X2 Ultimate (whew, what a long title). I also own a copy of PSP v8, so I'm comfortable with that interface, as well. Gotta admit, though, I really do like PSP X2. I guess I should take a closer look at it and see what sort of web-friendly routines I might be able to put together using it.
Kim and Janice, thanks for the tips. I'll look into both those items.
Hey Todd -- yeah the IIe still gets some use. I carry it along with my EOS DSLR as a back-up, more or less. I've always liked the Elan series.

Check out THESE GUYS.
I think I'm about to sign up with them, plus, they're a TPF sponsor. They look great and aren't very expensive, plus it takes the guess work out of it, like trying to figure out flash and whatnot.

Photoshop and other programs provide a way to create HTML slide shows. If you use a Mac, then iWeb and iPhoto go a good job as well.
Here is an example of an iWeb template from my web site. http://home.roadrunner.com/~ggeen/KittyKitty.html

My website is completely powered by a Wordpress blog.
I've tried the flash template sites before, and it would just end up sitting there, not being updated. This way lets me update more frequently. And it's free. (Unless you buy a cool looking template).
Alot of those flash template sites can get pretty expensive, and I'm not sure it's worth it, at least for me, as it would just be sitting there, not being updated.

I update my flash palette site all the time. It is the idiots way to have a web site. I can do it. I can't even begin to figure out how to do a blog. I can update my site in just seconds. AND they start at under $100.00 now if you need a shopping cart you will have to pay more. With Flash Palette you can download a trial and see how easy it is.
I don't know but these discounts might apply http://www.flashpalette.com/blog/?cat=5
