Wallet Prints for Client...To cut, or not to cut? - 05-15-2009, 03:44 PM

Wallet prints for a client just came in (and they look great BTW!) and now I'm faced with the dilemma: Do I cut them, or let the client cut them?
They are in sets of 4 and need cutting.
I can remember when I had my senior portraits done, they were handed over as a whole sheet of prints, un-cut.

What do you do?

as a customer, I would prefer you cut them for me.

Think like they do: I ordered wallets, not sheets.....

True that. I was thinking the same thing.
Any other views?

I always order mine diecut from Miller's - ain't no way that I want to cut them myself.

If I HAD to - I'd pull out my fancy 'scrapbooking' paper cutter, so that the lines were perfect.

Don't do it with scissors...

Don't.

Go up to Office Depot/Max and use their giant one. Ask the guy behind the counter which one cuts better... there always seems to be one that is just a notch above, and they usually know. ;-)

I always have Millers or WHCC die cut. There is no way I could cut straight!

I'm going to have to look into millers or WHCC. I ordered from my smugmug.
I've already cut them. They're all jagged and frayed, but I think they'll pass...

J/K!
I have a big paper cutter that has been in the family for decades, and it cut them nice and clean, and straight, too...
While we're on the subject, how do studio's get their name in the corner in gold metallic? How?

I use mpix as well and they die cut for free. I believe miller's and whcc offer the gold foil on the front of the photo (not positive though, I just add the name in PS)

With Millers - you have to actually write it in the instructions when you order thru their ROES system. The font, what you want it to say - if you want it angled - all that.

I just add it in PS.

I am also a big fan of having the the lab die cut them. They just look better with the rounded edges and you dont have to worry about them being different sizes.

How does everyone present the cut wallet-size prints to their clients? I bet there are a lot of cool products out there.

If you have a pro account with SmugMug you can order die-cut wallets from Bay photo.

"they'll pass" yikes..I think I would be, as a client, miffed if my wallets just passed.....

I would reorder them through whcc they usually get to me the next day if I order them before 10:30....

Its not that much for a sheet of wallets...

I package all my wallets in clear boxes from clearbags.com or clear wallet sleeves from the same...
