SOLD: Kodak Retina II type 014 with case - 08-09-2009, 08:52 AM

SOLD For sale is a Kodak Retina II type 014 35mm rangefinder film camera. Focus is in feet. This camera is in excellent cosmetic condition with only the slightest signs of usage marks and has no dents or dings. There is no damage/chipping/flaking of the black paint trim either and there are no Zeiss bumps. Leather is clean and damage free. This camera dates from 1949-1950 and has the Schneider-Kreuznach-Retina-Xenar 50mm f/2 lens in a Compur-Rapid flash sync'd shutter. This camera is fully functional with all shutter speeds sounding good and the lens is clean and clear with no hazing, fungus, etc. It does come with the below pictured case which is in good condition. This camera has also been film tested and is properly working. This camera is seldom found in this good of condition since they usually received a lot of hard use and then spend many years stored in less than ideal conditions.

More information on Kodak Retina cameras can be found at this link. http://homepages.ihug.co.nz/~Srawhiti/index.html

$50 or shoot me an offer...

If you want shipping it will be an additional $8 from Fort Worth.

Payment can be paypal or Postal Money Order.

It looks like a beauty.
Those are nice shots of the camera.

Somebody will grab this and add it to their collection. (I'm even tempted to start a collection with this camera).

OK, Kiddies, want the real deal? The Genuine Nifty 50 Thrill? Buy this baby. Load it up with some Arista Premium 100, a.k.a. Kodak Plus-X and Kodak's new Ektar 100. Find out what it's really like to photograph with a 50mm lens. And a relatively fast one too. 50/2.0 lenses are the for real Shnizzle! They work well too.

Colyn, show them how it folds up. Fits in a pocket. The perfect walk around camera.

These Retinas are fine cameras and a lot of fun to use. Optics are outstanding.

They are very easy to carry measuring approx 5 in long x 3 1/4 in tall x 1 1/2 in thick.

The below photo of the water garden was taken with it's sister camera the IIa which has the same 50mm f/2 lens.

Taken with the Retina IIa with 50mm f/2 lens. Same lens used on the above camera..

I own the IIC, vintage '58, the last of the BE (Before Electricity) versions of this classy camera. Only been to the shop once, in 2007. It was my very first experience behind the lens of a 35mm, let alone such a fine one. I never understood why Dad kept it around once he got his first SLR until recently. Same photographer, but the landscape images were that much better.

Looks like yours is another great example of this fine family of easily traveled with cameras.

Sorry, "bump" just didn't seem enough!

Another hint:

Do you know how much a Canon or Nikon or Leica camera and 50mm lens from the same period would cost? $400 to 4 figures. The pictures won't look any better. Different maybe depending on the lens. Not better.

Think of all the film you can buy with the savings.

I have both the IIIc and IIIC and like them a lot but my IIa's get more use.. The IIIC was a birthday gift in 1961 and has yet to go to the shop and is still working fine..

I've never seen a type 014 in this good condition. Most have considerable wear, flaking, Zeiss bumps etc but this one is clean..

That is a beauty! It would be fun to watch people's reactions when you pull that out and it works. Most of the ones I have seen have been paperweights.

"Nice camera. Is that a Hasselblad?"

Actually happened to me. And many others.

Oh man, I missed this one. I would've been extremely interested to add this baby to my Retina IIIs.
