WTB: 16GB Compact Flash - 09-09-2009, 10:21 AM

Anyone have a 16GB compact flash or larger that you are looking to get rid of at a reasonable price? I'm in Houston (and Austin once a month) if you want to deal in person.

I've had one of those cheap a$$ Fry's cards (exact same one) and the ting works like a champ! I've had it for about 2 years, maybe more and it's never given me a bit of problems. I use it to shoot RAW + JPEG and I fill it to the brim over and over. A little slow compared to me 300x Lexar Pro UDMA cards, but if you don't have to have the fastest card in the world this is definitely best bang for the buck!

I purchased my 16gb at MicroCenter for 35$. They were by the checkout lines with various other flash media.

The Microcenter ones are by Kingston. I have the 16G and picked up a 32G one at fry's
They are great. No problems at all

Just be aware they are a bit on the slow side as listed being 133X speed

Yeah, they stick it to you real good at BestBuy. I picked up some Sandisk Extreme IV 8GB cards for $40 a piece earlier this year when the rebates came around. They are quite reliable.

Also got a Kingston 16GB x133 at Fry's for around $36 after tax earlier this year. Lately, Fry's sales on Compact flash haven't been that great. Probably, due to the economy... I would imagine they will come back down in price within the next few months as we get closer to Black Friday and Tech Monday (the best time to buy).

Does anyone in Houston know of a decent shop that sells a 300X card without taking you to the cleaners ?

Given the speed of the CF you are looking for it will not be cheap regardless of capacity. You would be better off buying online.
