I have the need for the above stated camera or the need for one to be repaired for a friend.

It is a funny story but he wants to go from a Minolta 3000 to the above minolta. What can I say for the Old School leaders! We are were we are because of them.

Any and all advice is welcome. And just in case you guys don't already know the. The TPF is TOP NOTCH!!

I have a 400si sitting on my self. Can't sell it though since it was my wife's great aunt's camera. Speaking of which, I need to run another roll of film through it.

Funny enough, her previous camera was also the 3000.

Well like I said all advice is welcome and seeing that the man is 60 years old and has never used and Auto focus camera but is dead set on a Minolta then I will be more than happy to take an upgrade off someones hands to see the smile on his face. The camera he brought me is the titled device and has a broken mirror. I don't mind getting it repared but I am almost certian I can simply buy him a new (used) one for less than the repairs. So in a nut shell please be descriptive on your replacements if you have one. such as you Brian Chan, I am not sure what a minolta 7 is.

Thank you all again for your reponses and I am glad to have been able to bring yet even more intertainment into the TPF with my little story.

Minolta 7 is arguably one of the best film bodies out there. Probably the best one Minolta ever made. The 9 is sweet but the 7 is newer and can support SSM lenses.

Sorry, it is Maxxum 7 from Minolta an AF SLR camera, there are quite a few information online about the Maxumm 7 and thank you Keith for your help.

Kieth (KWA)

What I have is an older 1980's minolta Maxxum 7000 which is an AF body and uses the minolta/sony AF lenses...I don't know if the SSM will work on it...the camera is in good condition...just have not used it in a long time...

Wikipedia Info on Maxxum 7000

More info on Maxxum 7000

Just let me know if it is something you are interested in...I only want $25.00 for it...

Thanks everyone for the input. I was not able to look anything up on line while at work behind the crazy THICK firewall. TC i did look up the links you provided and i must say that i wish todays digital cameras sitll had that old metal body look and feel to them. I do believe I would buy one of those rather quickly. I am not concerned about the lenses at this point I just want to provide a favor to an old friend. If you and others feel that the 7000 is a solid work horse then I will be more than happy to pick it up from you today or wednesday. I am in the cypress area but work on the other side of town in Galena Park :( yeah I know yuck!!! Just a choice i can't seem to change. LOL Happy to make the drive everyday for the simple fact that I LOVE MY JOB that much.
