I have a Canon 28-135 f3.5-5.6 IS that came with my 40D that I bought last year. There is some dust inside the lens, so I'm letting it go for $200.00. I would prefer to sell it locally so that you can check it out first. I don't think the dust has any effect on the pictures, but I do want you to be aware of it. Everything else about the lens is perfect -- no scratches on the lenses or body, AF works. Front and rear caps included.

Here are some pics I took using the lens at Yosemite in September 2009. All have had basic editing (WB, exposure, contrast, etc...) done in Lightroom.

The reason that I'm selling it is that I want either the 24-70 F2.8l or the 24-105 F4l.

bump

I think I scared everyone away with the mention of dust. I'm afraid I spent one too many windy days at the baseball field. I don't think it has any adverse effect on the pictures, at least none that I've seen. And it's super cheap. :)

Hard to believe it has this much dust on the inner lens, and it still takes decent pictures. After posting this, I probably won't have a single PM to purchase this lens. It looks horrible with the light shining on it like this. I think I'm going to take it apart as an experiment if I don't hear from someone soon.

I'm sure some of you have seen this already, but for those that haven't seen the invisible pencil, check this out. Here's a quote from the blog... "Yes, that’s right, the camera has a pencil rubberbanded right across the middle of the lens. Look back at the original photo… no pencil! So what gives?"

Unhappy CLOSED: Canon 28-135 f3.5-5.6 IS Kit Lens (Going to take it apart) - 01-09-2010, 08:31 PM

I've decided to take the lens apart as an experiment. I'll be sure to post some pics of the disassembly, and the frustrated look on my face as I try to reassemble it. It will probably end up as a paperweight in the end.

Hold it right there buddy. Don't brick it, call me. I won't give you $200 for a dusty lens, but I'll give you more than its going to be worth if you ruin it. :)

Nah. I gotta take it apart now. Curiosity has got the better of me.

Sorry I missed the photowalk today, but I was helping to rearrange our server room. Had to make sure they didn't mess with my database servers. ;)
