If you have one at school, can't you check one out to yourself for the summer or something? I have actually checked out a complete set for a really eager student to take home for the year. And I could check one out to myself if I wanted to. Just got to sign for it and put the proper check out form in place should anybody come in looking for it. Anyway, just an idea.

watch craigslist from Dallas to Shreveport to Texarkana. Be prepared to drive for a car load of stuff. Keep looking. Stuff is out there. I collected two darkrooms that way.

Drive a ways... to Van Alstyne

For Free:
Omege Unversal 4x5. Will do 35,120 and 4x5. A long time ago, this was a $3,000 enlarger.

for some bucks:
3 lenses. $100.00

$50 for everything else, and Its a lot. everything you need and then some.

You will need a truck or van...Enlarger is LARGE. And there will be 3 or 4 boxes of stuff to take.

You wont be dissapointed

Bryan's enlarger will fit in a wagon or SUV if you can separate the baseboard from the column.

look at the D5 enlarger here:
The Omega Enlarger Guide: Simmon Omega enlargers, timers, and analyzers

I would/will take a pic of mine, but its in the bathroom, and its messy :)
plus I am on my way to the Post office.

I had to buy my lenses, seperatly, and there are some really good ones, so thats why I am asking $100. which at $33.3333 each is much better than you will do on ebay. :) However, one of them, the 4x5 lens, will need a lens carrier, that I dont have. If you dont do 4x5, then sell the lens and recoup a good $75. :)

for your other $50, ....timer, easel(s) contact frame, chemicals, trays, safelight, graduated cylinders, Filters, Negative carriers, Amber glass bottles, Paper, etc.

This Omega Enlarger is a VERY GOOD enlarger. :) not a hobby enlarger like the little ones.

you could do a lot worse :)

I am currently home during the day, and weekends.

Todd,

The enlarger comes apart. It's more awkward than big or heavy. I drove to Wichita Falls and brought back a D5-XL Color enlarger in the back of my Volvo wagon. Piece of cake. The best way to do it is lower the head all the way. Unscrew the column-head from the baseboard. Then you can put the pieces where they fit best in your truck. If you have a 4-door truck, the enlarger can go on the backseat & the baseboard behind the front seat. Big enlargers work well with small formats too. They are much more solid than the little ones. If I didn't already have the D5XL, I would have gotten Bryan's enlarger a long time ago.

Go for it!
