*sigh* that's really tempting. To this I would have to sell my 40D, 28-135 and 85 1.8. I'm just not sure if the AF advantages and FPS on the 1D merit the switch. Ugh, any opinions? Would I just be better off saving a bit more and getting a 7D? I shoot primarily sports then portraits so my concerns are AF speed first, then low-light performance and of course image quality.
Thoughts?

A 7D kicks the tail off of a 1D2. No question from me.

I prefer my 7D to a 1D3, as well.

How would you compare the AF speed and tracking?

EDIT: well I've been reading up on the 7D, and I'll have to get my hands on one to be sure, but I think that it is the body for me. Unless I come across some horrible reviews regarding the AF I think it's what I'm going to gun for.
Thanks everyone for your advice and to Les and Stephen for y'all's offers, I'm sure you'll see another want-ad pop up when I have the money for a 7D =P

Another plus is, that while you don't think you "need" HD video, there might be a time when you do. If I had the coin, there'd be a 7D in my bag, too!

I prefer it to my 1D III.

I will shoot the Rockets tonight and Wednesday with the 7D.
