This is more of a feeler post as I would have to sell my 40D to afford the purchase. I shoot sports primarily and really covet the AF system of the 1 series but I can't afford the Mark IV yet so I figure I can start here.
Post or PM if you have one for sale

Andrew, I have a 1D Mark II I've thought of selling to get a newer camera but I've gotten spoiled by the 45 autofocus points and constantly use them. I just don't think I'd be happy with anything other than a 1 series now and I can't afford to get the Mark IV (as much as I'd love to).

The Mark II is not full frame. It is a 1.3x crop body.

Unless that's what the edit to the OP's post was about?

I'd recommend the Mark IIn, which I've seen lots of lately on other forums. The LCD is still smaller than on your 40D, but the Mark II is a giant leap backward in that regard. It's a solid camera with good IQ, and no frills by today's standards.
Didn't see your original post ... the 1Ds models are the full-frame ones and not suited for sports as the burst rates are pitifully slow. I worked with a freelance photog who tried to use a 1Ds Mark II (16 mp) and his 85 f/1.2L (slow focus) to shoot basketball. Wasn't long before he went back to his 10D and a 70-200 f/2.8 with lots of Noise Ninja-work afterward!

What I meant was that I wanted to make a jump to full frame with a 1D Mark IV but I couldn't afford it, I quickly realized that the MkIV isn't full frame either so I edited the OP, honest mistake Quote:

From the reading I've done I couldn't really find any.

The IIn also has picture styles, but that's for JPEG only ... lotta good that does for a RAW shooter like me. There is later firmware that allowed higher-capacity memory cards in the IIn, but that might have also addressed the II.
The 1D Mark IV is for "full wallet" shooters at this point. The specs make it sound like an incredible camera, though.

Andrew,
I have a Mark II that I might be willing to sell if you are still interested. Right now it is my back up camera to the Mark III. I would really hate to let it go, but it is not getting enough use to justify keeping it. Send me a PM if you are still interested and we will see if we can work out a price.
