STOLEN Canon 5DmkII, 50 1.4, and White MacBook - 06-03-2010, 01:31 PM

Today at Discount Tire in Watauga a black Osiris skate backpack with my white macbook, 5DmkII, and 50 1.4 were stolen. The bag has the laptop charger, ipod cable, and sync cable for the camera in it.

The bag was stolen by three African American kids, maybe 18-20yrs old, short hair, driving an olive colored early 90's BMW 525i. Happened at 10:10am.

If you are wary about buying any camera gear and would like to confirm serial numbers, here's my contact info:

Be sure to file a police report with serial numbers etc. most cities will run these serial numbers in a database that pawn shops check when merchandise comes through their stores etc. also contact the store that you were at when it got stolen to see if they have surveillance cameras in order to see if you can make out a license plate number. if they dont have cameras see if a neighboring store does....

Thanks for the support guys. Not sure if you'll see it in Houston, but you never know. I'm emailing the police the serial numbers.

You're going to need serial numbers of the body, grip, lens, and any other attachments. You'll also need model numbers in addition to the serials. Also write a detailed description of each item, and include any scratches, dents, dings, or 'owner applied numbers'. Trust me... I enter stuff like this into the national database daily...

Very sorry to hear about your loss. It's a long shot, but I hope you may be able to recover your gear or be compensated for it in some way. Best of luck.

Also, put a ad on CL like you are wanting to buy these items, but obliviously not all together. Put a ad up saying you want to buy a 50mm 1.4 lens, a day later, list looking for a macbook.....see if you can catch them that way......worth a shot

And if you do get some bites, try and get pics so you can see, or try to see the serial number without asking for them, that would raise a big red flag!
