SOLD: Wedding and portraiture vcr tapes - Houston - 06-04-2010, 06:33 PM

I have 24 vcr 1 hour tapes produced by Charles Lewis and Ed Peirce. These tapes cover all aspects of wedding photography, portraiture, lighting, and posing. I'm selling all for $1.00 each ($24.00). If you don't have a vcr player, I have one I will sell cheap.

I will donate these to a school, if you can give me a receipt on school letter head for the value of the tapes.

I really prefer a Houston pickup.

Bill

"Cheap Chuck" as he called himself back in the day was Da' Bomb.....
You can still learn a lot from his tapes, especially the fundamentals.
Every now and again, I'll break out the Dean Collins, Ken Marcus and Monte Zucker tapes and watch them.....

I think I even have a few of Ole' Charles tapes where he discusses doing some Seniors..... I just came across his DIY Fresnel Lens..... still works like a CHARM!!!

What are the particulars of that DIY fresnel Mark?

It was a design that he manufactured back in the late '80's made out of "Heat Resisted" Corogated Cardboard with a thin flexible Fresnel Lens. He had different patterns that you could slide in and out to project Patterns on the background..... just like today's modern fresnel lenses and "Pattern Maker" type modifiers. Give me a sec and I'll post a pic up!

Here are some pics of the unit.....

Right now, it's taped to one of my parabolic reflectors (it works just about with any 6-8 inch size parabolic reflector from just about any studio size strobe unit.) It normally attaches via a long rubberband that is attached on the side of the unit and then stretched to fit around the strobe head, but as you can see, the rubberband was romoved due to "dry-rot", however you can simply replace it with another one from Walmart or where ever long rubberbands are sold. For me, it was just easier to tape it to the parabolic reflector. Although the unit is "heat resistant", you still want to take precaution "as still stated on the ORANGE sticker" to not have your modeling lamp on for a long period of time. Use your modeling lamp sparingly to focus and position the flash as desired then shut it off..... As you see, it slides back and forth to focus the light and/or pattern. The patterns can simply be made with 4x5 litho film and taped onto the inserts..... I have about 4 or 5 of the inserts with some designs already on them. But again, you can make your own! But that's really about it..... It works beautifully and Charles sold these over 20 years ago I believe for about a couple hundred bucks. Which was AWESOME, because back then there were very few fresnel lenses such as this that allowed you to project patterns onto the background. You can also use it on your human subject as a "focusing" spot...... If anyone is interested in this one, you can have it for $50.oo

Thank you very much, again. They will be used for many years.
