I'm interested and could pick it up today for cash but I have no interest in the VR...I'm a buyer at $175.00.

Hey John. I see you have a D300...so...not sure if you have a D90 also, but the VR on this little 18-105 is actually very useful as it does a great job of stabilizing the camera for handheld video. I have tried using non-vr lenses with the video and unless I am on a tripod, it just turn out as well.

Otherwise, VR is a GREAT feature even for stills. I am always surprised at how well it locks in images that would otherwise have been blurry. I am not saying leaving the tripod at home...but VR makes photography a lot more fun and practical in low lighting.

Thanks Drew for your input!

I actually have 2 - D300's and a few lenses including a Tokina 11-16, Nikon 35f 1.8, 50 f1.8, 85 f1.8, 18-200 VR, 70-200 VR, 400 f2.8 VRII.

I have used VR and found it very useful at times.

My main interest is in wildlife, bird and grandkids.

I am considering the 18-105 for a D40 I just bought to keep in the car.

John
