***** Buy/Sell Section Bannings Will Be Handed Down *****
I would recommend you take a minute and read over the rules we have in place for the Buy/Sell Section. Our Buy/Sell Section Rules: http://www.texasphotoforum.com/forum...ion-rules.html
Some members have NOT been following the rules which has caused our moderators a lot extra work. This section is not entitled to anyone, it is a benefit of being a member here on TPF. Our moderators have had to come and clean up YOUR listings in regards to adding the correct prefix "FS:" and/or having to add "(Houston Only)" to denote the listing is a locale sale only. It is YOUR responsibility to list your items correctly and in the correct format, it’s not ours.
As it states in Rule #1 your Buy/Sell Section access can be revoked and starting today I will be enforcing that one rule without regard. Period.
So if you would like to continue to list items here on TPF then I suggest you follow the rules in the link above or else your access privileges will be taken away. I hate that it’s come down to this but no matter how often we tell people and inform them of our listing rules they still continue to ignore them. The only fix is to not give them access to the section at all. | | | | | Sponsored Links | Premium Members do not see Google advertisements. SIGN UP today and help support our community.

I am not trying to discuss mod/owner decision, just curios if it will be permanent ban or temporary one? I can see the point from mods side, on another hand I myself, guilty as charged was not following the posting rules explicitly on one or two occasions but thanks to allseen/neversleeping billbunton my mistakes were corrected. Would it be possible to send short pm or just post in the sale post - "please correct to the proper format" in case of honest mistake?
again just curious....
thank you

We post this in EVERY thread we correct. This tells the member posting the thread and others that come across that thread what our rules are.
I have decided once you get two threads corrected and it happens a third time then that member is banned from the section permanently. Quote:
Please use our Buy Sell Section guidelines when listing an item for sale on TPF. I will correct the thread title for you but keep this in mind for future listings. Thanks Our Rules Located Here: http://www.texasphotoforum.com/forum...ion-rules.html 2) MUST use Prefix LEGEND
FS: = For Sale
FT: = For Trade
WTB: = Wanting To Buy
Once you've sold/found your items please edit the thread and use one of the following tags in the beginning of the thread title. SOLD:
FOUND:
TRADED:
CLOSED:
Example: FS: Canon 70-200 f2.8L IS
Once sold, DO NOT REMOVE ANY OF THE POSTING/TEXT; just change the thread title
Example: SOLD: Canon 70-200 f2.8L IS

Thank you for the answer, I know you guys are posting it in every incorrect thread, but quite often if not always billbunton or another mod will change the posting as well instead of OP, which IMHO creates an additional problem - there are simply tooooo many of us here :)(since it is a great forum) as a result mods getting overwhelmed with work.

I thought you guys were pretty easy going on ads. Most boards I'm on they delete the whole thing and make the poster relist it. Instead of fixing it for them

If the mod is in a good mood. he/she will post in the ad that they need to read how to list an ad. And they have till the end of the day to fix it or it will be deleted. They'll do this to keep the cry babies from posting why their ad is missing

Is it possible to have the vbulletin sofware issue a popup reminder or something like that when starting a new thread in the buy/sell forum that says "did you remember to put FS/WTB on your ad"?

People forget the FS/WTB, price, local only or not etc. Its a pain.

All I can say is that mods have a lot more patience than me. Seems like a pretty simple set of rules, why people can't follow them is a mystery.

As a thought (I'm no programmer, so don't know if this is possible), would it be possible to set up a predesigned fill-form with item boxes that would simply refuse to post if the required info wasn't filled in? Am I over-simplifying? In other words, Box 1 would be the requisite FS, FT, or Wanted with tick marks by them. Box 2 would be item for sale, such as lens, camera, flash, strobe, etc; and on, and on , and on. Just a thought to try and help.

That's not something they "forget", it's something they consciously do, and then some ignore PMs asking them to restore it.
