January 17, 2012: This unit has been picked up by an interested party from Round Rock. It is no longer available.
Houston Zoo has an old Argyle 18 Process Camera they want to get rid of.
I was asked to see if anyone on Pixtus might be interested in it.
Here's my flickr.com page with pictures of it:
Argyle 18 Process Camera - a set on Flickr
The camera has had a hard life. We have no information as to when the Zoo picked it up and/or if or how it was used. The City of Houston turned the Zoo over to a private group in 2002 and the camera was, at that time, stored in the Facilities/Graphics building attic. It has been at the Zoo ever since in various storage facilities here on Zoo grounds.
Now, it's been moved outside to make storage space available for other things.
The Zoo is not asking for any money for it, but would like to see it go to someone or some group who might restore it, if not to actual use, then as a historical piece of photography equipment.
