Smile SOLD: Canon 1D Mark III Perfect Operation. - 09-26-2011, 04:54 PM

Item is: FS:
Make: Canon
Model: 1D Mark III
Price: 1850 OBO
Location: Arlington
State: TX
Shipping: Will Ship

Hi,

I'm Selling my Canon 1d mark 3 as I have gotten a mark 4 recently.

The camera just came back from canon due to humidity corrosion, it's been fixed and works perfectly.

I believe it happened when I was photographing EDC at fair park in June. I was in the the middle of a sweaty crowd when skrillex was djing, and I used a tokina lens w/o the weatherization.

Feel free to pm or email or call me if you have any question or concern.

Also, it has a 6 month warranty from canon starting today the 26th of September.

Attached is some pictures I took of it, it's pretty horrible quality but it was before heading out to work. I will take some better picture and replace this one once I am home tonight.

Thank you for looking,
Thong

Is the file count accurate to the photos taken, <10K?

Manuals, box, etc. come with it?

Does that "HPI Racing" sticker come off it without maring the finish?

When did you buy it, and was it new then?

Is the eyepiece (rubber cup) missing?

Thong,

You say humidity corrosion from sweaty people.

The Canon work order clearly says the circuit board was submerged in water.

Can you explain the discrepancy here?

Thanks.

hi, the number has rolled over from 9999 , so I would add 10k to it.

I have the eyepiece, I removed it because I didn't like the feel of it when looking through the vf.

I do not have a box or manual for it. Bi bought it from adorama in march as used, but in e+ condition. I'll post a screen shot of it tonight. I'm replying through my phone.

The sticker will come off with out leaving the glue behind, intact I already took it off last night.

I amn100 % positive that this camera has never been submerged in water, the humidity I state above is the only think could think of that could have made it mulfuntion.

I have the original statement that I sent to canon describing the problem.

Basically, I took the camera to the beach in July, after the edc event. And started to malfunction, I rarely tur ll

What does this site report for shutter count?

Jeffrey's Exif viewer

Don't be surprised if it doesn't work, with some cameras it just won't work.

Sorry about the reply above, my phone ran out of battery.

But here is what I wrote to canon.

@SCone - I've tried, but it doesnt show the shutter actuation like the mark 2. I've asked canon to give me the number when I sent it in earlier, but they did not address it.

No problem.

What you told Canon is fine. Does not matter one bit.

I am referring to the notes under the Service Details header.

@KJ Smith I don't why Canon say that my camera was "submerge" in water.

That's why I try to describe what I though might lead Canon to think that the camera was submerge, ie. huge crowd all sweaty and hot and humid.

And I believe the parts would cost substantially more than $79.16 if it was due to submersion because if that's the case, more parts would needed to be replace and the cost would have gone up.

That's why I assume that the closest thing would be the last event I went to.

here's the arodrama

There are three of us interested in this camera & we have all asked different questions about the item. Not sure how answering questions can be excess bumping?

When I was in Iraq in 2008 during rainy season, a team mate dropped his Nikon D200 in a puddle of mud while trying to get shots of our troops in action. To us it was a simple little "puddle" but it was enough water to significantly trash the D200 beyond all repair. Not only was the main board inside trashed but the back LCD was trashed, the top display was trashed, the whole camera was just simply trashed. As for the poor lens...well, it didn't survive the drop period.

In the end, it would have cost more to repair the poor D200 vs buying a new one. Go figure that one. More to repair vs buying a new one?

For what it's worth, here is my two cents: I believe that the words "submerged in water" could quite possibly be a slight exaggeration in terms however, it is a better title for the repair technician to write down on an "official" document vs "submerged in sweat".

After all, sweat is technically water, is it not?
