Oh yeah Tom, it's great for time-lapse!
It's also great for taking photos of dogs jumping. From this afternoon, @f/1.6, 1/8000sec.

Not going to lie, nailing the focus at f/1.2 is not easy. But when you do, it's pretty decent.
Here's a shot from today with a 100% crop. My normal sharpening applied. Shot using auto focus on the 5d2 @f/1.2

wow that is sharp. i have the 85mm 1.2, and i would be hard pressed to get it better than that on my 5D2.

As long as you can nail the focus it's really sharp at f/1.2. A lot of times I use live view and manually focus it because the 5d2 leaves a lot to be desired in the auto focus department.

I see there is a rebate going on for the lens so I'm going to drop the asking price to $1200.

The outer AF points are poop. I am finding this out and it makes me sad.

Yeah, and to make matters worse, when shooting at f/1.2 you really don't want to focus and recompose.

If you shoot this lens or the 85 wide open, a focus screen helps.

I've been wanting this lens for a long time but can't justify it this year with our daughter getting married. Bummer!
