look at the ram that was in your PC. Make sure it is PC-133. If that is the case, then remove the old ram, and try to boot up with the new one.
If that works, then there might be a compatability issue with the one you purchased and the old ram. What brand did you wind up getting? I ask this because if you remember i recommended Samsung. It seems to be the most compatible one.
Let me know how this goes. I may have some 256 meg PC133, but i can tell you now, they are high end Samsung.
