    Scene Machine

    Greetings

Do you have sample pictures of what you have done with this.
I am curious how they look. I have investigated these and would like to see some work.

Do you have a pic of the machine / setup?

I just looked through the link that you provided. I'm curious about the technology. Does the background get washed out by lighting? How do you avoid shadows?

I posed a couple of images take with the system. The red BG is an old 35mm slide thrown out of focus by the unit. The blue BG is one of the slides from the "New Masters" set.

As for lighting, you have to feather your main to make sure that it does not hit the BG, or it will wash out the BG. You cannot use a tradition fill next to the camera. Since the BG image is flashed onto the special screen, there are no problems with shadows.

It looks interesting but to be honest it looks a bit fake to my taste. I am pretty sure if you learn to master it you can put out nice stuff like the one on their website.

I have seen Jennifer Hudson demo this at Texas School with really beautiful results... not sure how much she has displayed on the site these days though. But the company is located in San Marcos and they have seminars on how to use it for different applications pretty frequently.

I have and use this system in my studio and on location. I have no problem feathering my light traditionally and get no background wash out. They have made many improvements to the Black screen and retro reflective screen since this model came out. That said, a little bit of learning and some props, you can do some fantastic work with this set-up. I have a rather large studio system that has a 9' x 12' Screen. I prefer to make most of the slides that I utilize as that makes my work completely unique and different than anyone else.

This is an excellent price for this system. What Shelby said is very good to know as well, as Virtual Backgrounds will allow you to attend a seminar on the machine FREE even if you buy it from Ken.

I know Rick Harding and even thou you think the backgrounds look "fake" the clients LOVE them. He designes them specifically for the client and allows them to proof the background prior to the prom or event. If you ever attend a class he gives, he explains this and that he makes his 'background' tack-sharp on putpose as the theme of the prom is often as important as the photo itself.
