SOLD: Dual quad-core Mac Pro (tower) - 11-16-2008, 10:27 AM

This is a mid-2007 model 3.0 GHz 8-core Mac Pro. I bought it new last December; I've just upgraded to the newer 3.2 GHz version. The one I'm selling will include a 500GB drive. It comes with 8GB of RAM (four Crucial 2GB DIMMs), plus in a separate bag the original 1GB the machine came with. It has the ATI 1900XT graphics card, capable of driving two dual-link (30") monitors.

I'll sell it either with a fresh Leopard install, or with the drive simply erased (either way it will of course include the OSX CD). I'd probably recommend going with the drive erased so you can partition however you want.

I have had two occasional problems with this machine: it sometimes will not respond to the sleep/power button on an Apple monitor (and a couple times wouldn't go to sleep even through the menu). I have also had the entire display freeze a few times (machine was alive, as i could SSH in from another machine). Both problems were rare, and seemed cyclic (i.e. would happen a couple times, then no problems for long spells, then might happen again) and seemed unrelated to each other. Just for full disclosure...

Asking price is $2000, which does not include shipping! It's a big box and a heavy machine :-)

PM or email wgb at buntonstudios dot com if you're interested.

Could you still get Apple Care for it? You have a year right?

It still has two years of Apple Care on it. When I bought the new machine I checked, and it follows the machine (i.e. is transferrable to the new owner). That's why I made sure to specify the original 1GB it came with is still around, so it can be installed if it needs to visit the mother ship for service.

Sorry Angel, it went out shortly after the last bump, well over a year ago. I've changed the title.

Check back when the six-core Mac Pros come out, I might be interested in selling my current machine then :-)

Glad to hear it! You keep tempting me with some of your photo sales, but luckily (!) I've given up my consulting gig so my discretionary income has gone _way_ down :-).
