The 1.4 will let you get some awesome natural lighting shots, which would be perfect with a baby. On the other hand, it is a little wide for close up face shots...at least of a baby. I use my 50 all the time for closeup head shots and wider shots, but a baby sure is small.

Well, time to put the last two lenses on ebay. I will be putting them slightly higher in price...but the prices here will still be good...until they sell on ebay. Call me directly so I can give you an immediate status on the availability and will cancel the ebay auction.
Thanks for looking! | | | |

Pending on the 12-24.
Still have the 30mm 1.4. If you haven't with 1.4, you would be in for a fantastic treat...and if you have plans to always have a DX body even if you upgrade to FX, this will be a great lens to have.

Just a word to say that the 30mm/1.4 is a PHENOMINAL portrait lens - I have the D80, so it's like a perfect 'visual' lens. A couple of the images I've taken with it:
This one is SOOC (web sized/sharpened/logo added)
Another favorite out of this lens:
If you can afford it - and are at all interested - it is a phenomenal lens.

Thanks for the bump and the comment. I think it is a good lens. I suppose I could just keep it for my DX bodies. I guess it is just that it is a sigma and not a Nikon. But this is a sturdy well made lens.

if i wasn't moving in a month (need the $$ for deposit) i'd be trying to get this lens. well, it's between this one and the new 35mm 1.8 that nikon has out (if you can find it).
but i'd really like to have a 1.4 for bar/club stuff....dang it. i'm gonna keep watching this thread and in a few months if you still have it i might try and work something out with you for it!

This is a great lens, I bought this over the Nikon 35mm 1.8. I had the 50mm 1.8 so I didnt think that 15mm is enough difference. The Sigma 30mm 1.4 is a very great lens assuming you get a good copy.
