That's an awesome shot Roger, but the dates for this conflict with the airshow that you posted at Mather AFB.

Which one are you going to be at?

Saturday at Reno, Sunday at Mather Field?

Dang, the dog WILL be running.

But then again, if you are going to get the shots like you took above, you could probably do both in the same day.

Wake up early, shoot the balloons, and head the Mather.
It's only what, about three hours drive?

In 2006, I left Sacramento at 2:30am to make sure I was in place for the dawn patrol stuff that goes off at 5-5:30am. Most all the rest go up within a couple hours after sunrise. Have you ever been to the balloon races?

I have not had the pleasure.
Having lived in Napa, I could never get my sorry butt out of bed that early to go shoot the balloons.

I'm heading up either Saturday or Sunday morning early...very early...to be ready for the glow show. Any other crazies driving up that morning from the Sac area?

Off King between Taylor and Sierra College.

If a few folks are willing to brave the early AM we could met at the park and ride at 80 and Horseshoe Bar and car pool.

I think Killjoy is in and I'm trying to talk Kevin to come. I think I left about 2:30am the last time I went. Gave me plenty of time to find the parking lot and get setup for the Glow Show. I just looked at my images from 2006 and I shot my first at 4:58am and the final one at 8:42am. There were some balloons floating around but most had left the area.

Killjoy and I were discussing shooting the Capitol Airshow at Mather Field, Rancho Cordova later the same day.

We doing this on Saturday or Sunday?

Well let's plan on Saturday and then if something bad happens weather-wise, we have a Plan B.
