Candlestick Park - 09-13-2011, 03:40 PM

I'm stoked to be able to attend the Cowboys-Niners game on Sunday. Flying from TX on Saturday and back on Monday. Quite an impulse trip for me.

The Niners stadium info states:
CAMERAS AND VIDEO EQUIPMENT
Cameras and video equipment ARE permitted inside the stadium. However, lights may not be used with video recording equipment. Tripods and monopods are also prohibited. Fans may not reproduce or rebroadcast any film or photographs shot at the stadium without the express written consent of the San Francisco 49ers and the NFL. Fans are allowed to take pictures, but must be courteous to avoid sightline obstruction of surrounding fans.
Taken at face value I'd be inclined to say that I could bring a DSLR with 70-200 (and 2x extender) into the stadium. I kinda doubt this is reality though. Any of you California folks have experience bring a camera into Candlestick for a Niners game?

No one has any camera experience at Candlestick Park? I'm probably just going to take my G12 and snap a few of the family and friends I'm going with.

I would do that. What would you hope to get from a 70-200 with 2x from the stands? And if they make you put the lens back in the car, it would really suck to wonder if someone was going to mess with your car because they saw you put 2500 worth of cameras in there.

Probably wise advice. I want to enjoy the game anyway. I've been a Cowboys fan since 7 years old and this is my first time to see them live.

Sorry I didn't find this earlier Jim.

Yes, you can take your camera and lens into the park.
Depending on where you're sitting, you won't get much with that combination though.
My tickets used to be in the end zone about ten rows back, and I wouldn't bother trying to capture any of the action.
Now the cheerleaders? That's a different story.

Thanks Alan. I decided to just bring the compact G12 and snap shots of the friends and family. I'll just enjoy the game and the beautiful Northern CA weather.

you haven't been to Candkestick Park yet, have you?

When the San Francisco Giants played baseball there too, they gave out pins to people who stayed though the end of a game that went extra innings.
It had the SF logo on it, with icicles hanging off the letters.
It was called a "Croix de Candlestick" pin.

Actually, it has been rather nice the last few days.

Here's the pin and an explanation

It says Vini Vidi Vixi on the pin. I came, I saw, I froze.

You should be okay during a daytime football game though.

In all seriousness, watch your back. That's the worst part of San Francisco.
There have been some issues in the parking lot recently, before and after the games.
