Need advice on bag for ranch duty.. - 06-26-2009, 08:20 AM

So I've got into a lease that has part of it's border on the Colorado river, just north of Colorado Bend State Park. Looking for a camel back config, something I can pack light with, but it can handle my D2h as well.

Currently I have a lighter "sport" camel back and it holds comfortably:
-2L of water
-Binoculars
-GPS
-Radio
-Batteries
-Cell phone
-Point and shoot
-20 rounds for rifle
-2 mags for pistol
-fixed knife
-100ft of paracord

I just need something slightly bigger so I can put the camera in it. It needs to be small and light, because I generally walk most of the property in a day (2,000 acres). Needs to be fairly accessible, we have a huge hog problem as well as another predator that's messing up cattle on the property.

Suggestions?

Do you need it to be all in one bag, or might you be able to rig some kind of waist-pack backpack thing to divide some of that up? Just a thought. Two bags evenly distributed might be more comfortable for walking around. There are a number of camera "holsters" out there, but I've never tried them.

My question for you is, when are you going to have a TPF meetup on the lease? Sounds wonderful (except maybe for the hog problem).

I would prefer one bag.

Not sure about that meet up, haha. This place has never even been properly mapped or anything so I have no idea what is available.
