Pacsafe had a line of equipment designed to prevent your gear from being separated in a crowd by a quick cut. Just the stuff to take to downtown Naples, Italy.

Pacsafe Anti-theft bags and travel gear.

Good link, John.

Why did you single out Naples?

There is a long thread in L-Camera forum talking about street theft in Naples and would you dare take an M9 there. It was there I found the reference to Prosec cases and straps.

Some nice gear. I bought my LowePro Flipside 300 to keep the only opening at my back, but the straps could likely be cut easily, as well as my camera straps when it is out of the bag. Has anyone tried one of the camera straps? I understand their main goal is security, but I wonder how well they work and how uncomfortable they are with heavier gear.

Last month I was traveling through a small town in Sicily (not that this can't happen anywhere in the world mind you...) and noticed a guy walking behind me, and making believe he was shopping. I began moving myself unpredictable, to the left/right/turned and walked the other way. I also turned and looked in his direction several times. He faked being busy looking at things in store fronts and I took my camera and took a picture in his direction. The guy disappeared after that.

I try to stay with groups of people that I know. So far I've been real lucky...

I may get one for an M9 to be named later.

This makes me think they work well as I use Domke Straps.

Speaking of Naples, I just had a friend who lived in Italy for a number years relate his camera thefts in Naples, Leica M3, M4 and Contax RTS. As he said they have very quick camera thieves in Naples...

So have you ever used one of their bags?
The 200 series shoulder bag or the 100 Series duffle with the insert?

I've used their backpack wire mesh thing, and it works pretty good.

This is very different and thanks for the post!! It will be very useful for all Photographers. By the way, have you heard of MiNeeds.com? It really simplifies finding affordable photographers. I used it to find them for my child first birthday. Essentially, after I described what I needed on this site, I received several competitive bids from local photographers. I liked the fact that I didn’t have to call around and negotiate with each, and that they actually came to me.

Thanks for the information! I will definitely keep this in mind when I travel to New Zealand in March. I might just have to purchase one and see how comfortable they are to wear.
