Need Help Picking a Bag! - 11-02-2009, 04:04 PM

So I have am in the market for a new bag/backpack for my camera stuff and was hoping to get some suggestions from some of y'all.

I will be using the bag on snowboard trips and will be snowboarding while wearing the bag. So, this means that it needs to be:
  1. A Backpack
  2. Waterproof
  3. Well Padded

I will be storing in the bag two cameras, a Nikon D90 and Nikon N80. Along with those will be 3-4 lenses, no longer than 200mm.

So, all that being said, I would greatly appreciate any input to help me in my selection.

Thanks!
-Chris

No specific model... but I'd look hard at the Think Tank bags.. I have several and can't say enough good things about them.

Think Tank Streetwalker series if you are looking for a nice backpack. Its extremely padded on the straps and on the part that rests against your back.

I highly recommend Think Tank as well.

When considering what camera to take skiing I take into consideration my most recent yard sale on the slopes.
When skiing I keep a small point and shoot under my jacket. One day each trip I will take a nice camera and ski slowly.

If you want waterproof and want a soft bag (not a hard case), then Lowepro is probably your best best. They are not cheap but they are water tight and can take some abuse.

I remember seeing a video a couple years ago showing the bag being sent down a river through some rapids. Everything inside stayed bone dry.

I've never been snowboarding but can't imagine all that gear being comfortable in any bag! Just throwing it out there that maybe smaller and less stuff is better?

I personally use the lowepro slingshot aw 200. It is weather resistant, comes with an extra cover to protect it from the rain, easy to use. Also it is comfortable and easy to access your equipment while still carrying it. There are different sizes, check them out.
