Thumbs up Just bought a lowepro slingshot 300aw - 01-02-2010, 05:26 PM

Just got back from Houston Camera Exchange and I picked up a new bag (selling my Pelican shoulder bag, in the for sale section) and I am really happy with this bag. Holds all my stuff.

I have a Canon 50D with a 70-200 on it packed nicely and a 100-400, 70-300, and 18-135 all tucked in neatly. With plenty of room for all the other little stuff.

Glad I read on here about that bag.

I bought the Chestnut-colored one, and, yeah, it holds a lot of stuff. Didn't get to try it as a carry-on in last month's trip to Scottsdale, AZ.
So far, carrying it for longer than an hour fully loaded has not happened. I imagine that the big wide padded strap will be less fatigue.
Something I had trouble with was configuring the partitions. I wanted to locate the camera body with lens attached toward the middle of the bag for center of balance. It ended up on the end. Even the 580EX II stands in there without going over the top.
Nice bag. Good luck with yours.

I carried mine around on the field at the Texans game for about an hour with no issues or strain, but I am also a big guy. Carried it all day Saturday when I went shooting for about 2 hours and it was easy to carry and flip around for lens changes and such. Does hold a lot and looking forward to getting a few more lenses to put in it.

Mariano, it is a very nice bag, and spacious. Lots of places to put stuff.

Ron I think it would hold 2 cameras, from the looks of it you could put 2 bodies (camera) in there and most likely 3 or 4 lenses (one 70-200, and 3 smaller lenses if you wanted to). I can take some pictures and post them of the inside if you want to see it. I got mine at HCE and it was on sale when I bought it, been very pleased with it.

Lowepro is awesome. I have been pleased with all the bags I've used from them the past several years.

I have two Lowepro bags, a SlingShot 200AW and a Nature Trekker. The SlingShot is my second one. The first one I had started to come apart on the stitching where the all-weather bag has a loop that accommodates the base of the strap after about 4-5 months of everyday use. I called Lowepro and they shipped me a brand new one with no questions asked, I just had to ship back the damaged one after the new one arrived. The replacement SlingShot has not suffered from the same problem as the first one, and I have had it now for over a year.

In my Lowepro SlingShot AW200 I have :
----
Nikon D300 w/ MB-D10 grip
Nikon 18-200VR
Nikon 70-300VR
Nikon 50/1.8D
Tokina 11-16/2.8
Nikon SB800 w/ foot
Nikon battery charger + cord
soft-sided filter wallet full of filters
Lastolite collapsible 18% grey card
Giotto Medium Rocket air blower
3 Nikon EN-EL3 batteries
Nikon MC-30 remote release cable
Gary Fong Puffer diffuser
usb cable / pens / business cards / mem cards / mini tripod / lens cloth / AA batteries

I am really impressed with their customer service, and will probably not look outside of the Lowepro line for any photo bags in the future.

Yeah ... Lowepro makes awesome bags.

Nice grab with the Sling 300.

I own a Sling 200, like dmcantrell, and have recently bought the Stealth Reporter 400 ... now that bag can hold like 2-3 cameras, a few lenses and a flash ... But it's a bit heavier and not as comfortable as the sling ...

I'd found the AW100 and it was just big enough at the time for what I carried.

Then a couple flashes, lenses, etc later...and I stumbled across the AW200 at Costco and have had that bag for almost a year now and have been very happy with it.

I esp. like not having to take the bag off my shoulder to get to my camera.

If I add much of anything else to my stash, I may be looking at the AW300 myself pretty soon.
