It seems like I have more camera bags than some stores but still don't have a bag that feels right with my D-700. I use a Domke FX-3 with my D-300/17-55 combo and love it. Is there a similar bag that will fit the D-700/24-70 with a flash or extra lens? I want a shoulder bag that will hold the camera with the lens on. At the moment I'm using a Urban Disguise 40; nice bag but not quite right. If someone could steer me in the right direction or even wants to trade a bag that they are not happy with let me know I've got plenty, all in excellent condition.

Kata 3n1 series are utiliatarian, sling(left or right shoulder), backpack, cross-chested straps. In their video, it looks to be easily accessible in the sling configuration.
Crumpler bags - a messenger type bag, possibly a 6 or 7 million dollar bag.
Those are the ones which comes to mind, I'm sure there are others.
NINJA EDIT: What isn't right about the UD40, just curious.

I like it but it is more of a briefcase type bag rather than a soft sided bag. It is very well made. I've had a 7 million dollar crumpler; too big.
I've got a sling bag they are very uncomfortable after awhile.

Dan -
I've been looking for something similar and not found it. I wanted an 'incognito' bag for a trip to Paris that would hold the D700 w 24-70 mounted and a 14-24 on the side.
I'm also curious about your dissatisfaction with the UD40 - I was trying to figure out if a UD 30 would fill the bill.
Unfortunately, here in the boonies, there are few camera shops.

I have a Tamrac Velocity 8x. It will hold my D700, 24-70mm f/2.8, 80-200mm f/2.8, SB-900, 3 cards, 3 batteries, cleaning cloth, and blower.
It is comfortable and keeps everything accessable.

Dave, the UD-40 would be a better choice; I have the 30 also- it would be too small. As far a Tamrac goes I have 2 and don't care for either.
I've used the UD-40 for more than a year and was happy until I bought the Domke for my D-300. I love that bag.

Thanks for the info on size; I was concerned that it would be tight.

anyone got a suggestions for D700 gripped, 24-70 attached, and maybe a flash? I realized I don't need to carry all my equipment with me every time, so a small bag that just fits these items (and maybe an extra memory card or battery) would be ideal. I normally use the 7 million dollar home (with all my other lenses and accessories).

I REALLY love the Kata 3N1 series... I had a 3n1-20 with a D300+grip +17-55 mounted, with an 85mm f/1.4 and an SB800, 2 pocket wizardsand extra AA batteries in that bag all while walking around Australia. It was perfect.
id say in your case you could probably go for the next model up, 3n1-33 which is the current version.

I like Lowepro bags. Dave, for your trip you might consider something from the Lowepro Classified series if the Urban Disguise bags don't get you going.
For one body+lens and a few accessories, I like my Lowepro Toploader Pro. It will hold one pro-size body with a 70-200 f/2.8 attached, or I've fit a (Canon) 17-40 zoom and an 85 f/1.8 plus pro-size body. There are add-on pouches for more accessories, but I don't have any of those.
