I have been looking around for an affordable carry system while shooting.

I have seen the shootsac and two things about it made me think twice. One was the price, and two was the ability to store/hold the 70-200 with the hood on and extended. Nothing that I had seen had the ability to hold this lens front down and ready to shoot.

In looking around the web, I came across a youtube video from thevestguy.com.

The site is a bit haphazard but they have a section for photographers. They also advertise custom builds.

I called the number on the site and the owner answered. After discussing what I wanted and how I wanted the bag to work, the owner agreed that it would be a great modification to the existing bag

Custom ANSI II Vests,Tactical Vests EMS Vests Military Gear, Molle Pockets CERT VESTS, Photography Gear

he asked me to measure my lenses in the configuration that I needed to store, and send them to him.

I asked how much the customization would cost, and he stated that due to the fact that it sounded like a really good idea, he would do them at the cost of the original. He would take some shots and probably start offering this bag.

So far this company has been very responsive to a custom request.

After speaking with him today, he expects the build should be completed by Friday.

I will let you know how things turn out when I get it in my hands.

Under no circumstances should anyone every use a vest for photography.

The only suitable use for a photo vest is when an airline makes you gate check your suitcase, so you whip out your vest and put everything in your bag in your vest and give them the empty bag to check.

FWIW, I got a Think Tank Urban Disguise 50.

I fit in it:
1 15" MBP + power adaptor
2 580EX IIs
1 transmitter/2 receiver Elinchrom Skyport set
1 24-105L
1 70-200 2.8L IS I
1 1.4x
1 2.0x
1 5D Mark II+Grip
1 7D+grip
A ton of CF cards in waterproof cases
2 extra sets of AA batts

It was a tight fit and the bag was freakin heavy and killed my shoulder, but it did fit.

What..

Oh

I thought we were discussing things that had no relevance?

At no point in time did I mention using a "vest" for photography. That just happens to be the name of the vendor.

This happens to be a shoulder sling messnger style bag that holds lenses.

Got anything else completely off topic to add to the thread Thomas?????

Kent,

Rob (the vest guy) is a great guy and he makes excellent vests. He made one for my friend Buck. Photos:

Yeah, didn't click your link before the first post.

The Think Tank Urban Disguise happens to be a sling-type bag that has one strap and goes over your shoulder, jackass.

Kent,

I didn't click the link either so I thought you were talking about a custom vest. My bad.

Not cool at all. Keep that kind of name calling off of TPF.
