Smile Canon 300mm f2.8L Lens Bag - 09-12-2010, 04:03 PM

Hey all. I have a Canon 300mm 2.8L that I need to buy a bag for. Any suggestions? I thought ThinkTank made something that fit the bill, but I can't find it. I'd like a padded bag for just the lens. With no extender attached and the lens hood flipped around backward I will need 6" diameter and almost 11" length (minimum inside dimensions for the bag).

Thanks,

The Think Tank bag that fits the Canon 300 f/2.8 is called a "lens changer 300".

Thanks dminton, but I ordered the ThinkTank that KDLaneJr mentioned last night. That is an awesome looking bag, though. I have a LowePro (semi waterproof) backpack that is my primary carry bag, but I just wanted another spot to carry my big lens. I've been carrying it around unprotected for a while when the backpack is full of gear...and it's just too much of a risk.

For those looking at this in the future, +1 on the Lightware bag. The Think Tank allows you to carry it on a belt and have easy access. I don't carry my 300 that way so the Lightware is great for storage and transport. There is a velcro pocket at the top that can be used for storage. I remove the pocket and can attach my 7D to the lens and carry both. My monopod straps to the outside and I'm ready to go shoot.

Here's an update. Got the lens case in the mail today. Fits well and seems to be well made. It came with a shoulder strap that was supposed to be sold seperately, so I guess they're feeling generous. Thanks to everyone for their feedback and suggestions. -Brian

Think Tank also makes the glass taxi that the 300 will fit in.
