I do travel light, but I've seen guys and gals coming in with luggage full of stuff to cover a news conference. At one a few months ago, a guy comes with luggage but only one camera body. He switched lenses at one point and let a $1,300 lens sit on the edge of a table (!) with young kids and parents sitting there.

My philosophy is this: it's hard to take a photo with luggage, so stick to cameras. There are a number of slings and straps to make this easier to do if the stock straps won't work for you. It is also harder to concentrate if you have to wonder where your stuff is or who has it.
Also hard to use a multiple off-camera light setup without carrying in all the lights.

I use a roller bag and a smaller bag that i can carry around, but mainly stickt to two bodies/two lenses for most of the day.

That's true, but lights and stands are photo equipment and being actively used. Luggage isn't. :-)
