Crumpler Bag Question - 02-03-2011, 07:56 AM

My 4 Mil Home arrived yesterday. I bought it for my NEX with its two lenses, mic and fisheye adapter with the hope of also fitting the A or M mount adapters and a lens. I think it should fit that stuff, but MAN it is stiff. Can I expect it to break in over time or should I look at the 5 Mil Home?

It will break in... but only a little. The Crumpler bags don't seem to stretch out as much as the canvas bags. You should also look at modifying it, if you plan on just using the Velcro.

I have found the Crumpler bags have thicker paddings in the bag as well as the dividers which could make it feel stiff. You may want to try and find some ThinkTank dividers for their shoulder bags as they are thinner than the ones for the Airport Security bags.

I had went with the TT Retrospective 10 bag as it's similar in size to the 6 MDH but the padding isn't as thick, which for me felt better.

Funny, i just picked up a 4 mill at HCE today for my M9 with 3 lenses. Perfect size for that and a few extras but I was thinking the same thing... it is stiff/tight. Like the pockets for instance. They could definitely use a little more give. Just needs to loosen the belt a little.

I was shopping it against the Think Tank Urban Disguise 20. Similar exterior size but the TT can hold more due to it's construction and design. Think Tank has the best designs in regards to function and really makes the most use of every space on the bag for pockets and such. But the UG20 is just plain and ugly and is just a square box against your body. The 4 mill wears/looks/feels better. If only we could get the thought/design of Think Tank in a more fashionable and comfortable bag.

I tried their smallest Retrospective bag when they were first released and returned it immediately. It was just way to big for an M kit and much too overly bulky. But man the overall design and thought in regards to function that went into it was great. Really didn't want to return it but it was huge.
