Question bag recommendation - 04-24-2011, 01:21 PM

what would you guys recommend as a light travel bag (sling or messenger style) if all i wanted to carry was my Canon 7d w/ grip, a Sigma 17-50, and a 50 1.8? I'm not too particular with brand as long as it can keep my equipment safe and have quick access. TIA!

+1 on the Think Tank Retrospective 10 or 20 bags. They're not overly padded yet it has enough padding to protect your gear being dinged around. With it not being overly padded it'll conform to your body. The 20 works really well as it can hold a pro body with a 70-200 2.8 attached with the lens reversed.

It's more utilitarian and is covered under a 'lifetime' warranty.

I use the Tamrac Velocity (Will have to checkseries when I get home) and carry 7d with battery grip, 28-300 f/3.5-5.6 lens, 16-35, 50mm and flash. fits well across the back when needed there and on the side. easy access when needed and plenty of protection. Has pocket for some filters and cards. I have had great luck with it.

I looked when I got home last night and the bag did not have a model # on it. It is the gray/black combo. Not sure if the colors are model specific. I fit a lot of stuff in there and feel good about it. Has grat padding for all the gear.

I did find the model on the bag it is the Velocity 8X

I like the Boda Bag but it is pretty pricey. If you are anything like me and on a budget I would recommend The One Bag by Undfind. Its lightweight, comfortable and has all the pockets and padding you need. They also have cool covers to make your bag unique! That's what I use for weddings and a shoots where I need easy access to my lenses.
