That does look like a good deal, but I already have a pretty nice tripod... and I already ordered the bag from B&H.

Hopefully that deal will benefit someone else.

I got the Tenba bag you suggested Wayne, and it's huge, but somehow doesn't hold as much as I was hoping. It mostly fits what I need it to, but it won't be a bag that I carry around with me on shoots, it's just too heavy fully loaded. However, I'm keeping it because it does hold my laptop and a reasonable amount of gear (though it's a bit of a tight fit with the 5D, the rebel fits much better) so it's good for transporting gear. I wish the pouches to hold accessories and stuff expanded a bit more because chargers and batteries are kind of stuffed in there.

It's a well built bag and if my laptop were something smaller like a macbook it would probably work better.

if you're still looking for an alternative, i have a tamrac backpack i use when traveling with gear. it has a laptop sleeve on the back that fits my 17" macbook pro, and i can fit a camera with 3-4 lenses in the front pocket.

it's freaking heavy with all that stuff in it, but it definitely fits. it's nice because you can get into the top compartment without opening up the whole thing. it's super padded and comes with the removable inserts.

i dislike the messenger style bags because it's hard for me to squat/bend and keep my balance with them if they're fully loaded (plus that can wrench a back real quick!). also, with a lot of stuff packed into one, it can be a heavy load on one side of the neck.

the backpack i have (Tamrac 3385 Aero Speed Pack 85 Dual Access Photo/Laptop Backpack ) is red and black, but they also make the in blue and beige... maybe even green, orange.

jill-e also makes a rolling bag that will fit lots of equipment and a laptop... although i 90% love it, i 10% hate it because it's a roller, and when loaded with gear and a laptop, the side with the laptop is much heavier and the thing falls over, potentially crushing everything in the front pockets.

they have girly bags and manly bags, so don't be afraid just because they started out as a girly bag company. they are pretty spendy, though.
