I have not used the Borealis AT, but I have used a Mountainsmith backpack (I have a Paragon, which I think has been discontinued) for a long time. I really liked the construction of the bags and I really liked how functional they were.

I have their parallax one. Terrible suspension system (i am 6' and broad shouldered - its uber short and uncomfy for me), material is ripping apart after 2 years (which is longer than Kata had survived though), but insides are good and its rather roomy backpack.
