Strobe storage case - 09-14-2011, 09:03 PM

Well, I searched but apparently my search-fu is weak tonight. I'm sure this has been covered before, but I don't see where.

Does anyone have any suggestions for relatively tough cases to hold some Einsteins? I'm looking for portable, but a bit more rugged than the PCB offering. Hopefully something that will hold 2-4 Einsteins and their basic reflectors. I've gotten a suggestion of this case from Harbor Freight... but I'm looking for other options as well. Photography specific might be nice, but it certainly isn't required.

18" x 12-3/4" x 6" Aluminum Case

I have kept four Alien Bees with reflectors, power cords and a other small equipment in a Pelican 1600 with dividers. The case is tough and the lights have been quite well protected. Not your $24 case, but will last forever.

Cannot go wrong with Pelican cases. I have several I use with my camera gear for storage and travel.

Paco - which model is that? I've heard nothing but great things about Pellican, but I was a bit concerned with spending more on the case than on the lights...

Nathan, I was referring to the Pelican 1600, but other models may be appropriate as well, like the wheeled 1610. I cant help you with how you allocate your budget, but I can say that a Pelican case is indestructible and will protect your lights perfectly. Down side is price and weight. They are not the best choice for air travel because they are heavy.

The best cases for air travel are not cheaper - Lightware - these are outstanding and very pricey - Welcome to Lightware Inc.

I use Pelican case for everything from my guns to a suit case. I think the smallest I have seen was something like 4"x6" and the largest was 24"x60" which is the one I use for my rifles. I wouldn't put my guns in any thing else than a Pelican when I fly.

I've used Pelicans in the IT business for several years to carry sensitive electronics from job to job across the country. I actually have a Pelican 1650 with the lid organizer to carry my videography and sound gear. It's too big, but I already had the case from a previous life carrying a demo kit of four phones, a PBX, a router, and an overhead projector. Just swapped out the insert. As the web site says, unconditionally guaranteed, forever.

I have Lightware and Versa-Flex cases, both are great. The Versa-Flex cases are somewhat less expensive than the Lightware.

I've owned many Pelican cases, Pelican has a great warranty as well.

Pelican, Lightware and Versa-Flex are excellent cases and will protect your equipment if packed properly.

I have to agree on the warranty.

I had a Pelican 1600 cracked by the airlines. The box lid was cracked but my dive gear was protected. When I called Pelican, they sent me a new box and asked if they could have the broken one back so they could look at how it was crushed.

Pelican . I use one with my Gigapan and dragged it over rock faces, coral and all sorts.
Great bit of kit.
Also I use various models of Pelican with work (Police) and they get a absolute hiding and still protect things.

Even saw the result of one that fell from a car at 120 kph. Box was stuffed but the gear in side was perfect.
