Can't afford a Shoot Sac? No problem - 09-18-2011, 12:26 AM

I was assisting w/ a bridal session and saw my friend's sweet lens/photo bag, he told me it was a Shoot Sac. When I got home I quickly looked it up, but to my surprise they were over $200! Hmmm, it didn't feel like camel hair, or Egyptian cotton (RIDICULOUS!) so I solved this problem on my own.

Amazon: BUILT Neoprene Soho Laptop Messenger Bag 16in. $48

This thing is awesome!! It is seriously identical. It holds my 70-200 2.8 with the hood on along with my 16-35 L and a flash with no problem. Flap velcro's just fine. there are 6 compartments (4 individual and 2 large). I walked around College Station for 7 hours TWICE w/ no problem.

Thought I'd pass it on

Here's the link: Pixtus.com: CE: BUILT Neoprene Soho Laptop Messenger Bag, 16 inch, Black

The only problem I see with it is that it doesn't have the individual pockets for lenses. I guess you could try sewing the inner pocket to the outside? Probably don't want all your lenses clunking around together.

I have a shoot sac and couldn't be more disappointed in it. It just isn't very good. Doesn't shut/stay shut, no zippered pockets to put things like car keys/memory cards and that neoprene makes it tough to get lenses out.

Much better product:

auddii: you're wrong, there ARE pockets. I put my 70-200 in one and 16-35 or whatever in the other but there's only two unlike the 3 in a shoot sac i think. Nothing clunks around.

Tom: I see what ya mean, however I freaking love the neoprene. Then again I don't shoot tons of weddings/sports so it's more of a convenience without carrying around a dorky backpack.

i have a shootsac, and liked it for actually carrying on my body to just hold a couple of lenses... but it's definitely NOT a "camera bag". more of a wearable lens sleeve.

what i liked the most is that you don't have to have that flap on it, so you can just reach in without having to fold over a flap.
