camera backpacks.. - 05-01-2005, 12:40 PM

Are there any photo backpacks that have a sport for a Camelbak bladder? I need something along those lines for when i'm out riding my bike taking pics. Easier to ride around downtown then walk around. Right now I have to leave my nice lil Minitrekker at home and use my normal backpack that has a space for my Camelbak bladder. Thanks.

Which Camelbak are you using? I've got a HAWG, and I have plenty of room for the bladder, mini-pump, multi-tool, trail map, cell phone, keys, wallet, food, my 10D w/grip and a couple lenses. Gets a little heavy, but nowhere near as heavy as I'd think a normal camera backpack would get. Downside is that you don't have as much protection as an actual camera backpack, though.

I don't recall which one I have. It's got very little space, didn't want a huge camelbak for hitting the trails with. I can put my pump, keys, cell and wallet in it. I guess I could put the bladder in the front, i'd just have to extend the tube on the bladder. Just riding with the mini trekker feels weird. I've been using my big normal backpack w/spot for a bladder.. Just been throwing my ae-1 50mm and 135mm lens in there. Guess i'll check out the HAWG at REI sometime..

That's a great question -- I was grappling with the issue of how to carry my 10D, 28-135mm, a rented 70-200mm, and the necessary water while hiking and biking around Pedernales Falls this weekend. I didn't come up with a great solution and was driving home yesterday thinking "there needs to be a Camelback camera bag!!"

My Camelback is too small; my dayback is too big to hold the camera equipment securely. I'll have to check out the HAWG as well...
