small camera bag - 05-13-2005, 06:50 PM

Maybe I should have done a search first, but I am looking for a small camera bag that would fit 3 things: 1) Rebel 300D 2) 50mm 1.8. 3) small wallet. OK it would be good if it could fit a cel phone, too.

I want a bag that doesn't say anything camera related on it and won't look ridiculous while being "out at night". Say, to a jazz club. I want this for Memorial Day but I'm probably at the point of no return for an online order w/o expedited shipping. Maybe I'll just go to Best Buy and Target see what they have.

If anyone has something that fits the bill, let me know! This would get me taking my camera places when I don't want to carry the whole gagdget bag.

Thanks,
Suzy

I bought a great secure and well-padded London Fog camera bag at Ritz camera store. It has a padded expandable main section, a front gadget pocket and two side pockets. I'm able to get my Canon Powershot Pro (a bit smaller than the rebel..but not a pocket camera for sure)spare camera batteries, recharger, lens cleaner, 3 flashcards, the users guide and its all about the size of a medium shoulder bag. I love it. It has a handle and an adjustable shoulder strap and three easy but secure pinch releases on the opening. And its waterproof. I got it on sale at Ritz for $19.99. The regular price was $39.99 but I would have bought it anyway. Just what I was looking for.

I hate to say this, but Crumpler's bags DON'T look like photobags. Some of their smaller bags would fit your bill and last time I was there, they had some at Camera Co-Op.

That looks interesting, thanks Sadie. I was thinking I really didn't want pockets, but that would actually be good to keep at least my keys in, so they don't scratch anything.

I just need one smaller than this:

Half the size would be perfect, I think.

Crumpler is a company that makes bags. They started out a few years back making messenger bags. Their photo bags don't look like photo bags. Their website sucks, but you can get an idea of what they offer by going to B&H or eBags and searching on "Crumpler".

Thanks for the advice, Sadie and Jesus, and I think I am going with the London Fog bag. I saw it today at Wolf Camera, but they only had a blue one, which I really didn't like, so I will order it online. It may look like a camera bag but at least it says London Fog and not Canon or Quantaray or something. Thanks!

Hmmm... the estimated ship date for London Fog bag is May 18 and I need it by May 25, but don't want to pay for expedited shipping. It would *probably* arrive in time (why did I procrastinate!) but this made me look into the Crumpler bags. Man, I like 'em. They are cool. I didn't want to spend this much (I can be cheap) but I really want this! At least shipping would be free at ebags. Thanks Jesus!
