Whats in YOUR bag? - 03-04-2007, 09:50 AM

Hey Photographers, whats in your camera bag? I mean the one you sling on and take with you all the time. This is my grab and go bag. I have other lenses, but these are the ones I take 95% of the time.

Mine: Small Lowpro (don't know the model number)

D2X w/ 28-70mm
70-200mm VR
12-24mm DX
SB-600
50mm f/1.4
10.5mm f/2.8 fisheye DX
CF card reader
77mm Polarizer (B+W)
Swiss Army knife
4xAA batteries
4 gb San Disk Ultra card (spare)

So, what have you got in YOUR bag?

A Canon Powershot, Canon 20D, 28-70L, 70-200L, one of those rocket bulb blower thingies, a Micro Cloth, some Q-Tips, a note pad and pen, a small LED light, two spare batties for the 20D, two sets of rechargable AA batteries, and a 580ex flash. I did keep a Sigma 15-30 in there also but have sold it with the hopes of getting a good Canon wide L. All of it is in a Lowpro backpack bag.

Which Bag? Yesterday, the Domke F4 had the 50/1.0L, 35L, 135L, hoods for the lenses, 4-spare batteries, two Grepe cases with some 20Gig memory, a 1.4 Canon ext, remote release, an ear syringe, mini-maglite, two BP-511 chargers and miscellanous cleaning gear. That was for 0-dark hundred shooting with the fast ones... What's in it varies with what I'm shooting. Now if I didn't know that I would be shooting it would be the F-1 with just about everything in it.

I never carry cameras in a bag. They are over the shoulders or in hand. The 5D had the 24L on it when the Light sucker wasn't earning it's keep. The Fast Lad is off to California soon for a full Irvine calibration and check out.

I've got a Tamrac 652 Rolling Strongbox for my "bag." It holds my D200 w/ grip, D70 w/ grip, Holga 120CFN, Polaroid 600 Ultra Instant camera, Kodak V530 point and shoot, Nikkor 17-55 f/2.8, Nikkor 70-200 f/2.8 VR, Nikkor 18-70 f/3.5-4.5, Nikkor 50 f/1.8, Sigma 70-300 f/4.5-5.6 macro, 2 SB-800's, Lightshpere II w/ the chrome dome, a pile of filters which I rarely use, about 32 AA batteries w/ 2 chargers for em, 3 batteries for my D200 and 3 for the D70 w/ 3 chargers for them, TC 1.4x, 3 Pocket Wizard Plus II's, Nikon ML-L# remote, various cables and such, 15GB's worth of CF cards, camera and flash manuals, sensor swabs and solution plus a blower, a couple tripod mount things, my laptop, and some gum. I'm sure there's some more misc. junk in there too like film for the polaroid and holga, some cloth to clean lenses, hoods, etc. She's pretty full.

At the moment I would walk out with, 30D/battery grip over the shoulder with 24-70 2.8L on it. In the bag I carry 4 lenses all with hoods: 70-200 2.8L IS, 135 2.0L, 50mm 1.4, 100mm macro. Also have the 580flash, 550flash, 2 battery chargers, spare batteries, spare memory cards, card reader, expo disc, flash meter, 12 AA batteries and charger and my iPod. It can get heavy.

Today's bag:

Tachihara Field 4x5
Nikkor-W 210mm f5.6 on board w/release
Rodenstock Grandagon-N 90mm on board w/release
Dark Cloth in bag
Sekonic L-358 w 1degree spot attachment
5 film holders with Kodak 320TXP
1 Kodak Readyload holder with 3 Fuji Astia quickloads
Rodenstock 4x loupe
#8 yellow filter, Wratten #82 filter (mainly to visualize B&W with)
Puffer brush
pad post-it notes and pen
piece cardboard with 4x5 hole cut in it
homemade chart with various graphs and factors listed on it
Bogen 3021pro with 3047 head (replacing this heavy sucker with carbon fiber soon)

I have a D200 bag too. But the 4x5 is the "for me" bag.
