Camera Bag Advise needed - 05-02-2007, 05:14 PM

I am adding a new camera body to my TOE ( Table of Equipment). I will need a bag that will hold my D1H and my new D2Xs plus a 70-210 and a 300mm, two short lenses and flash. Anyone out there carrying a similar load that can point me the right direction?
I have been looking a backpacks and I need to narrow the field down a bit.
Any advise would be much appreciated.

I like classic camera bags and have found none to be more functional or useful than the Domke bags.

You can configure one of several for your requirements.

Check them out over the backpacks.

Whatever you get, plan to oversize it as much as possible. You will collect more "stuff" to put in there.

Believe me !!! I have several smaller bags that I don't use any more. (including a used Domke bag, hint hint.)

Lowepro Stealth Reporter AW400 shoulder bag. You can store the body, w/ no lens or body with medium sized zoom lens pointing downwards. Then batteries, lenses, what have you.

It'll get heavy though.

The camera bag hasn't been made that will lighten the load when you add too many lenses and bodies. If someone comes up with a design that will, he will be set for life. I agree on Lowepro, pretty hard to beat, especially for the money.

I've got a Lowepro Magnum II, and when that thing is fully loaded it weighs at least thirty pounds. But, the bag is very solid and is pretty much weatherproof, too.

Pelican case, large canvas belt, tape.

just kidding. If you dont shoot a lot of quick-access-nessecary...a backpack evens the load out on both shoulders. Again, Lowepro, but I've heard good things about Tamrac's Expedition (?) line. If you do need quick access, try the slinger type. I dont like how these bags fit on me (personally). Think tank also has a backpack setup that can act like a sling type.

Or a belt/harness/chestvest system for the ultimate-PJ quick access setup.

I am absolutely in love with my ThinkTank Airport Security roller. Not a backpack though it does have straps so it can be used as one in a pinch.

i actually like my cheap small Atlas backpack that i got off ebay for $25
it's roomy (but cheap) and holds a pretty big laptop. lots of pad and pockets
holds a tripod on the side and has big straps and cushion for comfort.

it has a built-in weather cover, too
