I just do not see how anyone can beat this price. I read the fred miranda reviews and people spoke rather highly of it except the should straps perhaps. Anyone here had first hand experience? I don't want to fork over a couple hundred for a lowepro if i can get this and have it be the same....
What does everyone think?
Thanks!

For the price its a good pack. Would I have one? NO. I have had 2 lowepro backpacks both really nice. But I now have a crumpler much much better. More comfortable doesnt scream steal me ect!!! The canon bags are nice for the price tho.

Thank you for the reply NoLight! Seems as though people are skipping this thread for some reason... oh well.
I am more just looking for something simple and cheap that will protect the camera very well. I'm not too fussy when it comes to comfort, i suppose, although clearly more is better. I am getting the lowepro shoulder bag -- the Magnum, i believe, or the stealth reporter -- haven't quite decided, need to see them in person.
I will check out crumpler though .. haven't seen much of their stuff, but I've heard a bunch about them.
Thanks,
Ross

Ross, not skipping it - just trying to remember. I recall someone on the forum had one and sold it. Search through the Buy & Sell and see the comments at the time.
They seemed to imply it was a good buy. I saw one at Best Buy back around Christmas and it was OK.
I've got a Crumpler and it's nice - but significantly higher price.

I just bought that same backpack and I like it. Nothing else is even close to it in terms of price/quality. I don't hike or anything but like the fact that all my photography gear is in that bag. I just grab it and I know that I'm good to go!
Easily fits my camera and will fit 6 lenses (including a bulky 70-200) and a flash, plus all the other miscellaneous stuff. 5 of the 6 lenses also have hoods. The whole interior can be 'reconfigured' to your needs.

I have this one also and really like it. The only problem I have found with it is that with the battery grip on my 10D, the top closes real tight and puts too much stress on the zippers. If you don't have the grip, or since the 20D is smaller than the 10D, it will probably work fine for you. As stated earlier, nothing comes close in quality for the price. Besides, if you outgrow it later, you're out $40 bucks. Big deal.

Ross
I picked up the Canon bag and was about to buy it to use as just a camera bag. I have the 20d with just one lens and a 550 flash. It would hold what I own and room for a couple more lens (future purchases)
My other choice at the time was the Computrekker II, but that bag was just too big.
I really wanted something I could put my laptop in.
So I went to another camera store and they had the Computrekker I.
It was the perfect size for me. Room for all my stuff (abiet not much yet), room for my laptop for travel and a dry storage for jacket and snacks and a tripod carrier...
From what I read, you want to buy with the intent for room to grow (over the years?). I figure if I do outgrow the 1, I can upgrade to the 2.
note: the lowpro bag seemed more 'padded' than the Canon bag.

| The whole bag is configurable inside, if it seems tight, all you have to do is move the top portion down to allow a better fit. I have a battery grip on my 20D also and it fits perfect! (after some tweaking). | | | |

Ross,
Where do you stand on this now? I know you do your homework. :)
I didn't think I would ever be a backpack kind of guy until I read this thread; now, maybe ...... I sure like the price. :D

Carlo -- Thank you for sharing the first hand experience!!! I have the 20d as you know, but not battery grip. However, i do plan on getting it, so thank you mucho for the info.
Bruce -- I bought the backpack. I know I'll love it. I will definitly let you all know what i think of it when i get it.
Bruce, I think at this price you seriously cannot go wrong. I am not initially a backpack guy (perhaps I was scarred by all the school backpack wear). But i think i will enjoy this Canon backpack for sure. I will also get a Lowepro shoulder bag down the road soon as well.
THANK YOU ALL FOR THE COMMENTS. I will post here when i get it in to let you know how it is.

I'll wait to order until you've given the backpack your seal of approval. :)

Ross - like you, I saw the price so I ordered one. For $38 it's kind of hard to beat. I don't usually wear a backpack....too much overhang on the old gut... , but for something that ought to hold everything I use and be able to just grab it and go, I don't see how you can beat it. Should be here Tuesday or Wednesday, so I'm looking forward to it.

I will be glad to help our the decision, Bruce :) I would gladly let you test out mine if you wanted.. although kind of hard DFW/Houston disconnect :)
From everything that I hear, I think it will suit my needs perfectly. I do not have a bunch of gear, so I will be able to move them pads around to get everything exactly where I want it to be.
I am in Baltimore right now -- have been since Friday morning -- I have 2.5 GB worth of RAW+small JPG files to share :) -- They'll be posted in the various catagory forums.
I went down to the Smithsonian National Zoo in Washington DC and it was awesome. I got some great lion/tiger pictures. I stupidly ONLY brought a 50mm 1.8 on the entire trip, thinking I wouldn't have that much opportunity to shoot. So everything is with that-- but I think with 8.2 MP something will come out
Anyways, cannot wait to share -- sorry I got a bit off topic there.
