ISO walking around camera bag/case - 05-27-2007, 10:21 PM

I have a great Lowepro backpack that holds several bodies and lenses, but I would also like a bag for when I am running around with my camera and I do not want to take the entire kit and kaboodle. For example, tonight we went over to visit some friends for dinner and I just took my camera, no bag at all. I would just like a little extra protection for these instances. Any suggestions?

I like the look of the Lowepro sling bags, but I think that those are still too big. We have an older camera that has a hard leather case ... do they still make those?

Thanks for the suggestions!

Anne,

I love the Lowepro Sling 200, it is not as big as the 300. I got mine at HCX, here is a link at B&H for the
Lowepro Sling 100

Lowepro Sling 200 is what I have. It is better to get a bag that is a bit bigger than to get a bag that is to small.
I took my camera gear to HCX and tried out the Lowepro Sling 100, 200 and 300. I found out that the 100 was to small and the 300 was to way to big at this time.
Here is the link for the Lowepro Sling 200

I hope this helps, the sling part lets you take the camera out quick and put it up quick!

Thanks,
TxmexNitro - Angel

I have a Tamrac Pro Digital 5629 that works great for me. It holds a body and 1-2 lenses along with room for cards and battereis and a filter or two.

That is a great idea! I will take my "essentials" with me to the store and try the various bags out to see what works for me.

Any other suggestions?

I like my Tamrac Adventure 7. It's light and great for around town. I use it when I'm going for a hike and don't need to bring everything. It even has a place on the outside for a couple of water bottles.

How about a Domke? I have the F3 which is brilliant. It holds a 10D with lens attached, plus another lens, hard drive, flash gear etc. They do smaller bags/satchels if you don't need as much capacity.

Consider these also. Depending on the lens you plan on carrying, they come in several sizes that may fit your needs.

I like the look of the top loader and the slings. These are great suggestions and something I need to invest in soon - thanks!

I have the Toploader Zoom and a Lowepro zoom lens case. The zoom lens case straps onto the side of the Toploader. This allows me to carry a 70-200 and a 24-70 when walking around. The front pouch has room for cards, batteries, and filters. I like the bag and I am pretty picky about my luggage.

You might want to consider Think Tank gear. TT products are probably the best out there for active shooters.

domkes are awesome, another to look into is the lowepro stealth reporter 200, its really nice and holds alot for the size the bag is. Im trying to get my hands on a lowepro sideline shooter because it looks like its gonna be what I want (one body, two lens and a flash)
