Camera Co-Op on North Shepard stocks assorted Crumpler bags. Not the whole line at one time but their stock changes every so often.

Photobackpacker. Only available on the internet. GOOGLE knows where they are.
Search Equipment for a thread I started a few months back on why real backpacks are more comfortable and better for toting lots of stuff like you have.

I just bought the Tamrac Adventure 9 backpack...it holds my 15" MacBook Pro, my 40D with 24-70 attached, my 30D, my 7-200 f/4 and my 50 f/1.4 with all the cables and accessories.
It's large, but not too large, and it feels very well constructed.

Thanks Gregg | Gregg,
I just bought the TENBA Shootout and I love it. Mine holds two Canon bodies with a 17-35mm attached to one, 70-200mm, 28-70mm, 85mm, two flash units, two wireless transmitters and receivers, all my accessories plus room to spare.
It has a padded pocket for my laptop and can accommodate my large Gitzo tripods.
It has weatherproof zippers and comes with a rain cover.
It has a very comfortable harness that is fully adjustable and a zipper covered flap to tuck away the harness when not in use.
The Shootout comes in many sizes and options. I bought the next to largest size. Mine has the most important feature for me WHEELS. When I use it for most uses the handle comes up for me to pull the backpack. When I can not pull it on its wheels, I unzip the harness and strap it on, and take off. It was expensive but it was a good deal for me. Worth every penny. http://www.tenba.com/ps-874-8-shoout...-backpack.aspx
Click the Dealers button on the page and you will see several places in Houston to buy. I bought mine at Competitive Camera in Dallas.

Lowepro Vertex 100 here and I absolutely love it. Perfect fit for my typical gear and fits my 13.3" laptop.

How much will you carry while you shoot? If you’re shooting with the pack on, I like the Slingshots from Lowepro. Leave the computer in the car or hotel. If you want to shoot with everything you own at hand... hire a porter. The large Slingshot will hold everything you listed plus a 2nd body… less the laptop, and you don’t need to take it off.
If you just want to transport everything to a location on your back... then I like the TENBA bags.

Mainly I will be going to events, motorsport races, and sometimes out when we go FlyFishing were we'll be hiking a river ..... looks like I'll need to go out and do some looking in shops ..... I have a hard case but need it on my back for mobility...not a big guy just 5'8"....back in my film days I carried a 2 1/4, a 4x5, the Gitzo plus everything else in a make shift backpack...now I'm digital and everything is compact

May need two bags… I like open top bags for events that I plan on setting the bag down and working from it. Easy to move and access from spot to spot. For the hiking a backpack sounds better.
Like many, I’m always in search of the perfect bag….

You'll never find the perfect bag.
I own a small backpack, a Domke, a body + laptop shoulder bag, a "bring all your lenses) shoulder bag, and I still find situations where I wish I had something else.
Oh, if you could only wear that ThinkTank chest system everywhere. | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
