Im looking for a camera bag to hold all of my equipment. I have been looking into the LowePro slingshot 100 AW, but am not sure it will hold all that i would like it to. So then the 200 would be much better.
Right now the equipment that i have consists of:
Canon 20D
70-200 f/4
18-55
50 1.4
430EX
And i plan on upgrading to the 70-200 2.8 IS and adding the 100 macro. I have read some reviews and heard people have had some problems fitting the 70-200 in the 100. Any other suggestions for bags that would fit all my equipment and allow for some additions.

from the picture on their website, it doesn't look like all that glass will fit in this bag. http://products.lowepro.com/product/...-AW,2034,4.htm
IMHO, a bag is like buying a wallet or a woman's purse. 90% of the recommendation is personal preference.

GREAT BAG!!!!
I ordered this bag from HCE thanks to Abel and Mike W.
I just got back from NYC with this bag, it was better than Lowepro bag..... I use to have The 100 and 200 Sling.... Here is the link for this Think Tank Glass Taxi $129 @ HCE
Your going to spend about the same, so why not get something BETTER
Later,

While your at the Think Tank site check out the Urban Disguise 30, 40, or 50. With the 40 and 50 youo'll have room to grow with your gear. No one bag does it all. http://www.thinktankphoto.com/ttp_product_UrbnDsgs.php

You may also want to check some of these out. I have the F2 and find it to be excellent for quality and materials. You can get a variety of inserts depending on desired usage. Good luck with your search. http://www.tiffen.com/products.html?tablename=domke

I would also consider a Crumpler 7 mil home. I have a 6 mil and really like it.

I would not get a single bag but rather a good large case like a Pelican for storing all your equipment in when not in use. Then look a soft over the shoulder case like a Domke F2 to take what you need for what you are shooting that day.

I agree with Stovall above that there will be many times you don't want to lug all your gear and won't need it.
The sling-type bags are good for accessing your gear in a hurry, but for me, if the location is fairly secure I'll put my bag down next to me and not want it to fall over. That's why I use more of the structured bags, and my Lowepro Stealth Reporter can also hold my laptop when I need it.

I really like my F2, much more comfortable than a sling or back pack and yes I have tried them both, not just speculation. A side bag like the F2 is also easier to access gear. I kept my back pack in case I want to carry camera gear when I ride bicycles but have not done so yet so maybe I do not need it.
I took the stiff bottom cushion out of the F2 and replace it with couple of old dish towels. They provide a soft surface for the gear when setting the bag down but also allow the bag to conform to my side when I carry it.

I have the lowpro slingshot 300, it is an awsome bag. However with that said. I have aCanon XTI, Canon 18-55, Tamaron af 28-300 f3.5-6.3, Sigma 105 2.8 Macro, kenko extension tubes. It is starting to get a little crowded. I just ordered a new 40D and not sure how I am going to fit it all in there. Do not get me wrong, it is an awsome bag however not sure you can get everything you have in a 100 or 200. JMO

If you like the slingshot, check out the LowePro FastPack. It has similar access, but is supported by two straps, has a top pocket and may hold a laptop. I have the largets 350 and am very happy with it. I just took it to NY with my work 17" laptop, A700+Grip, 70-200G, 16-80Z, 56 series flash, 50mm, 2x TC and all my chargers, filters, cleaners, etc. Even had a PSP in the top pocket with snacks.
When I want more camera gear and bring my smaller 13.3" laptop, I have the LowePro Vertex 100. In the Vertex my 70-200G does not have to be mounted to the camera to fit.

I have the lowepro slingshot 200 AW, and here's what I got in it.
40d with vertical grip
17-55 2.8 IS with hood mounted in reverse
2 pocket wizards
roscolux swatchbook
2 580ex II's
Sekonic L358
2 stofen omnibounce things
about 20 batteries, pc sync cords, hotshoe adapters, etc
then of course my batt charger, extra memory cards, and business cards ;)
The bag is big enough for me. After about a half an hour walking around my back starts hurting, so I know its got enough crap in it. I don't want anything bigger. Although, I do have a bigger bag just in case.
Just don't get the 100, its way too small. I can see how you could fit all your gear in the 200, but then it would be at max capacity like mine is. I just wish it had a slot for a laptop in the back, but that's not too big of a deal for me. | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
