The 1510 can just fit in the overhead storage but the 1620 is too big...they make you check it in.

Then again with all the 'issues' the airlines are having with luggage, who knows...they might give you crap for the 1610 now...!?

I'll find out next Friday?!

I think you're right Abel. The Pelican site has "FAA maximum carry on size" listed under the 1510's page:

shows the 1500 series can be used as carry on
http://www.pelican.com/airline_allowance_medium.php

shows the 1600 series not being carry on sizes

Wil, you flying domestic? if so the Airport Security is a beast of a bag that will fit a bunch...

I have the Airport International and its a great size as well (smaller than the Security)

Abel: Yes. I was just looking for a combination case... that would provide a lot of protection and at the same time allow me to carry my gear "on my person". I have a 1500 series so I guess I'll just have to put the main stuff in it and the rest of the gear in a 1620 (or so) one.

I'll have a look at those other two bags...

Thanks for the links!

i had a 1510 but i wasnt too pleased with it for my usage... i opted to get an international (out of stock for the Security at the time) and i love it.

tons of built in features like TSA combination locks as well as a wire rope integrated in the frame so you can lock it up to a rigid item at a wedding or reception etc.

the think tank bags arent as strong as the pelicans but they do offer great protection and they dont look like they would be housing expensive equipment... kinda keeps ya under the radar.. hehe

Great info! Thanks. I'll have to take a look locally and see if anyone like Arlington or Competitive carry the ThinkTank line. I would prefer to look at them before buying.

UUGH...I don't have a 1610, I have a 1520...THATS why I can take it. The 1620 has always been checked.

Abel, that breakdown rocks on their site...good find!
