Backpacks - 11-20-2008, 10:57 AM

Does anyone have thoughts on either the Lowepro Fastpack 350 or the Tamrac Adventure 9? I am in the market for a pack to carry my laptop, camera, flash, a lens or two plus accessories.

Thanks!

look at Naneupro. I think they are better made than Lowepro.

I have this one: http://www.naneupro.com/products/ug-u220/

bu the smaller U120 might be better in your case.

I have the FastPack 350 and like it a lot. Used it to haul a lot of gear and a 17" laptop of work travel. In fact, I liked it so much I got the Flipside 300 too. Also have a LowePro Vertex 100 and a Tamrac Velocity 8. I like the build of the LowePro better than the Tamracs, and they seem to fit my use more.

In my FastPack I had the A700 + grip with 70-200G attached along with the 16-80 Zeiss, 56 series flash, 50mm f1.4, and a 2xTC. I also had my memory card case and all my camera and laptop cables in the top with extra filters AND a 17" HP laptop with the extra travel battery attached! It wasn't too bad weight wise, and the padded back and straps are pretty comfortable.

you bet.

I had never heard of them until I found mine at Houston Camera Exchange*. I had called to see what they had, and when they said 'We've really got too many to describe over the phone...", I drove the 30 miles to the store. boy, i'm glad i did....

I have been favorably impressed, the quality is great and the features are really unique, like the padded camera case will separate from the backpack so you can use them individually. I've had mine for about 2 years.

The Lowepro it replaced was fraying and the handle was coming unsewn after only 6 months.

* yes, unabashedly shameless plug for the good guys

My Flipside was from HCE too. They had the Fastpacks, so you can compare.

I had the Naneupro but absolutely detested the straps on it, they cut into my shoulders something awful and made running through airports with them a pain. Also, Camera Co-Op has a pretty large selection of Tamrac, Lowepro, Naneu, Crumpler (but not Think Tank). It's a good half of a room devoted to it.

Houston is a tad far to drive. We have a store here in town that I might try to get to this weekend. Online I still like the Lowepro and Tamrac. The Naneu looks nice but I think I'd like that extra compartment on top of the camera portion.
