Note to the wise, a third party screw in hood was what did my 50/1.8 (the first one) in. I grabbed it by the hood and I guess the weight of a d-reb was just too much. POP.

I'm thinking a $100 give our take $30 or $20 will be the perfect case. All kidding aside, a neoprene drink coozie does the trick for me.

I do the same exact thing with a similarly sized Nikon lens. I cut a piece of foam-core with a slightly larger diameter to cap off the end of the "case".

I have one from the 70's still just like new but it ain't for sale! :-)
