Post bag help - 02-11-2009, 10:49 AM

I am going on a trip and I need to take my 17" laptop and I want to take my camera along as well. I have been meaning to buy a new bag and I figured now is the time. I want to get a back that can carry both my camera and laptop with ease. I currently have a 40D, 17-85mm, and a 50mm so I don't need that much extra room. I plan on adding a 70-200mm fairly soon but that doesn't matter as much right now.

I looked at the http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/produc...650AW_Bag.html but I have heard that it is too big for most use and it is a little overkill.

I also looked at the http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/produc...Bag_Large.html but i don't know a lot about the brand.

Any suggestions?

Whether your flying or not, be sure and buy a bag that qualifies as a carryon, just in case...Ben

I have a LowePro FastPack 350 which should work great for your gear.

Thanks for the info guys. I probably end up going with the fastpack that way I have room for the 70-200 if I ever have the money.

I have the Lowepro Stealth Reporter 550, and although it says it won't you can slide a 17-inch laptop in the sleeve. But it's cumbersome when loaded up. I can fit two bodies with lenses attached (one is a 70-200), two flash units, two small unattached lenses (carefully stacked), my laptop, power cords, mouse, CF card wallet and little doodads. I'm looking for a smaller big with more zip for traveling lighter.

I did a lot of checking before I purchased my camera bag. I was tired of carrying equipment so I wanted a rolling bag that would hold a laptop if I wanted. I wanted a bag that would hold enough equipment but yet small enough to be a carry on. I bought the Pelican PCS 179B bag which had a zippered lap top case which could be zipped off and carried separately or left at home if you didn't need a lap top. I felt this was the most versatile bag for what I used it for.
